Children’s dentistry

At Dental Practice Laan van Kronenburg, children are a very important part of our care. When children learn early how to look after their teeth, they have a much better chance of keeping them healthy as they grow up. We also want children to feel safe and relaxed at the dentist, so they do not become scared of dental visits. A good first visit can make a big difference. By the age of two, most children have a full set of baby teeth, which makes it a great time for them to get used to the practice, the dentist, and the dental chair.

We advise bringing your child for a check-up two times a year. These visits help us keep an eye on how their teeth are growing and let us prevent problems before they start. Children often learn best when things are fun and familiar, so during visits we may count their teeth, gently check them, and help teach good brushing in a simple and playful way. Parents can help a lot by setting a good example and showing that visiting the dentist is a normal and positive part of staying healthy.

Research shows that children who get cavities at a young age are more likely to become afraid of the dentist. That is why we focus strongly on prevention, regular care, healthy eating advice, and good brushing habits. It is also recommended that parents brush their child’s teeth at least once a day until about age ten, because young children usually do not yet have the hand control needed to clean their teeth well on their own. Even though baby teeth will eventually fall out, cavities in them can still be painful and can lead to other problems. Together with you, we want to give your child the best possible care and build a strong foundation for a healthy mouth.
